Zuzana Ondroušková prepared a series of paintings for the etc. gallery that in a specific way touch upon the theme of time. The author deliberately set a limit on the time spent in front of the canvas rendering a motive. The binding time limit was then accepted as a basic and positive common element of the whole group of “white” paintings as she calls them (even if they bear in themselves her so characteristic brave colour methods). In opposition to that she let the themes in the paintings, which come from a certain immediate impression and experience, flow freely and noted them down in form of signs and traces onto the canvas surfaces.
What came out of this process were partially abstract as well as more concrete records, which were at the same time very subjective in an inner way, by which the author speaks out and about the impressions gained at the exhibitions she visited. The four chosen works with titles “41 min”, “13 min”, “18 min”, “58 min” represent in the small space of etc. gallery a bigger set of paintings in which the minutes dictated the time spent in front of the canvas: not a second more, not less. The essential painterly expression of Zuzana Ondrušková thus gains in these cases a form of an action. Thomas Demand, David Hockney, Nan Golding or the reflective exhibition Po sametu (After Velvet) - a telling choice, which reflects the visual interest of the author - can then lead the viewer to associations which these authors and their work arouse.
