Mostly I only do what troubles me – I consider it the best impulse to work. Solving my problems, though, must have a general transcendence and it should be intelligible enough to be repeated by anyone. Thus the "patients" are not only my family or the inhabitants of a village whom I try to include in the action, but also myself. I am firmly convinced that the main problem must come from me myself – it is this condition that promises consistency and at the same time prevents the possibility of backing out of the demanding process at any time. I consider it a greater success to have had my "Instruction Manual" appear on the TV show "Recipes not just for Sunday" rather than in a gallery space. This is why I try to make a book accompanying each of my projects, which is a great vehicle for getting my ideas and paintings to people who would never visit a gallery. Thus they can easily pass them from hand, to hand and fortify the myth which has arisen from the action itself.
