By means of their new project, Aleksandra Vajd nad Hynek Alt transform the space of the etc. gallery
in a temporary test room. Starting on Wednesday, April 6, they will work, for a period of three weeks,
on a new series of photographs, which they will put on display at the end of their stay in the form
of a new photographic book and an installation.
These new works will be put on display one by one in the space of the gallery, which will
simultaneously function as a studio/workshop and, at the same time, as an open space for the audience
. In the course of the project, the audience will be able to observe freely the process of production
as well as the fragmentary and instant results of the activities of both artists.
The statement You Can't Change the Weather is a point of departure for climactic experiments to be
executed inside the gallery. Simulation of weather conditions typical for our region forms a loose
parallel to the utopian attitude of an artist who wants to grasp the surrounding world and its ways.
In other words, to depict the order of the world and its laws is impossible despite our schemes given in advance.
The work of Aleksandra Vajd and Hynek Alt in the etc. gallery is an experiment. They invite
the audience to participate and intervene in order to create a dialogue and a new situation, and thus
violate the classically conceived relationship between the artist and the audience in a gallery space.
