We are offering two residency opportunities – one focused on curatorial research and the other on artistic research.

• Spring Residency (March–April 2027) for curators, theorists, and academics engaged in research, archiving, or the presentation of moving image art (1 residency position)
  Outcome: presentation of your own curatorial programme and an online exhibition at etc. galerie at the end of June 2027
• Summer Residency (July–August 2027) for artists working with moving image and intermedia art practices (1 residency position)
  Outcome: a public presentation depending on the nature of the project (screening, work-in-progress exhibition, performance, lecture, etc.) at the end of August 2027

The open thematic framework for both artistic and curatorial research within the residency programme is Metabolic Drift.

Metabolic Drift focuses on moments when things, relationships, and processes begin to drift away from what they originally belonged to. What happens when labour becomes detached from its outcome, the image from reality, technology from the human, or memory from what we actually experienced? The theme draws on the concept of metabolic rift, which describes the disruption of the relationship between society and nature, and extends this idea into other areas of contemporary life. We are interested in the cracks carved into and around us by technologies, algorithms, artificial intelligence, precarious labour, data, and the constant movement of information, images, and materials. What role do we play in all of this – and what has meanwhile slipped away from us?

WE OFFER:

• use of the gallery space and adjacent offices at Sarajevská 16, Prague 2 for 30 days (including technical equipment)
• the residency dates will be determined in agreement with the selected resident within the designated period
• curatorial consultations with the etc. galerie team and collaborators
• production support
• the possibility of long-term collaboration
• an artist/curatorial fee (paid by contract or invoice)

Residencies take place during the following periods:

• curatorial residency: 30 days in a row March–April 2027
• artistic residency: 30 days in a row July–August 2027

The residency includes use of the etc. galerie premises at Sarajevská 16, Prague 2. The gallery does not provide accommodation, travel, or meals.

APPLICATION:

• submit the application form no later than 25 November 2026 (use this form)
• a brief description of your research/artistic practice together with your residency proposal (1 standard page)
• information about the intended final outcome, depending on the nature of your research and practice (e.g. lecture, workshop, performance, screening, work-in-progress exhibition…)
• CV/portfolio, if available (max. 10 GB)

Applications submitted to the open call will be evaluated by a committee consisting of Tereza Vinklárková, Sára Märc, and Jirka Skála.

The results will be published on the etc. galerie website and social media no later than 17 December 2026. Selected participants will be contacted by email.

After completing the residency, residents are required to submit a short final report on the course of the residency.

If the necessary funding cannot be secured, etc. galerie reserves the right not to realise the residency.
